Shop owners booked for abusing I-T Dept sleuths

LUDHIANA: Several shopkeepers of the Caliber Plaza (AC market) have been booked by the police for abusing and issuing threats to the sleuths of the Income Tax Department.

Several shopkeepers of the Caliber Plaza (AC market) have been booked by the police for abusing and issuing threats to the sleuths of the Income Tax Department. A case under Section 323 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 (Obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), IPC, has been registered against shopkeepers. The suspects have been identified as Gurvinder Singh, owner of RP Embroidery, Gurcharan, Bunty, Lucky, Rahul, Sonu, Rishav Grover of Kabir International (K Girl), and Surinder Kumar, a shopkeeper.

I-T sleuths Jahid Parvez, Gaurav Bihari, Vijay Kumar, Ashwani Kumar and Mukand Singh told the police that acting on a tip-off of huge tax evasion, a raid was conducted at the AC Market where the suspects abused officials and also issued threats. So far, no one was arrested in the case the police said. TNS
