Ludhiana, May 23

A servant employed as domestic help at the house of a hosiery owner in Gurdev Nagar took away cash and gold worth several lakhs. The theft has been captured on the CCTV camera installed at the house. The domestic help, along with his three accomplices, committed the theft.

The complainant, Yogesh told the police that on the night of May 21, all members of the family were at the marriage of their kin. The domestic help, Ramesh Nepali, was asked to stay at home.

When Yogesh’s relatives reached home, they found the servant missing and entire house ransacked.

“Valuables and cash worth Rs 10 lakh have been stolen,” the house owner told the police.

Investigating officer from Division 5 Davinder Kumar said on the basis of CCTV footage, a case against Ramesh and three of his accomplices had been registered.

The ASI said the domestic help was employed by the hosiery owner about a week ago. He didn’t bother about enquiring about his identity and other details. “As per the rule, if any house owner employs a servant without informing the police, he/she can also be booked,” he added.
