Rs 10.8-lakh loot cracked

The police on Thursday claimed to have solved Rs 10.8-lakh loot from the employees of Amazon Transport Service Company located near MBD Mall, Ferozepur Road. The police have arrested four persons, including a former employee and a present worker of the company. Three suspects have absconded.

According to the police, a total of seven persons were involved in the loot. Those arrested have been identified as Karamjit Singh Joga of Dakha, Bhuvnesh, Pawan and Harpreet Singh. Joga is a former employee of the company whereas Bhuvnesh is employed with the same firm.

Ludhiana Commissioner of Police Sukhchain Singh Gill said the arrested accused had been involved in many incidents of loot in rural area. The police have also recovered Rs 3.04 lakh from the accused besides a toy pistol. The hunt is on to arrest the other accused in the case.

Gill told media persons that the remaining three accused had also been identified and they would be nabbed soon.

Armed robbers had shot at two workers of the company near and looted Rs 10.8 lakh from them on Tuesday.

Joga was the mastermind of the loot. He was fully aware about the timings of cash collection. “The rest of money and the weapon used in the crime will be recovered from the remaining accused after their arrest,” said the CP.

Initially, it was believed that four accused on two motorcycles committed the crime. Investigations revealed involvement of a total of seven persons in the crime who had come on three motorcycles. The victims were shot in legs when they tried to chase the fleeing robbers.
