Robbers attempt to loot jeweller, fire gunshots

Two armed bike-borne youth attempted to loot a jeweller in Jamalpur in the late evening today. However the alertness of the showroom owner made the robbers flee.

Amandeep Verma of Charanjit Lal and Sons, who owns a jewellery showroom in Jamalpur said two bike-borne persons, who were carrying weapons, entered his showroom and threatened him to part with cash and gold ornaments on Friday evening at around 7 pm.

“The assailants were wearing helmets. The moment they entered the showroom they threatened me to give cash and valuables or else would kill me. Instead of paying need to their threat, I raised an alarm. Soon, nearby shopkeeper gathered at the showroom, which made the robbers flee,” the showroom owner alleged.

Robbers were wearing helmets due to which jeweller could not see their faces. While fleeing, robbers also fired several gunshots in the air.

The DCP, Crime, Gagan Ajit Singh, said the CCTV footage of the area was being checked to get clue about robbers.
