Ludhiana: International Institute of Fashion Technology organised a freshers’ party on the theme of “retro, rewind and replay” to welcome students of the new batch. Keeping the theme in mind, freshers came dressed to their best. Seniors put a spectacular show as they performed to an array of popular hits of 1990s. The highlight of the gala was a Ms and Mr Fresher contest. Riya was declared Ms Fresher while the title of Mr Fresher was given to Jaswinder. 

Seniors welcome new students

The postgraduate department of economics, and of commerce and management, Kamla Lohtia SD College, organised a freshers’ party to welcome the students of MA-I and MCom-I. The event started with dance and singing performance, followed by modelling rounds and fun-filled games. The titles of Ms Fresher and Mr Fresher were bagged by Avneet Kaur and Gaurav from  MCom-I, respectively.

Excursion to Kasauli

Students of Bajaj college went for a one-day trip to Kasauli. A total of 85 students, accompanied by eight teachers, went for the trip. After arriving at Kasauli, a trekking path of 5 km was undertaken by them, followed by a visit to the Manki point, Mall Road and the famous church of the town. A dinner was arranged back in Ludhaina with a DJ party. 

Nutrition month observed

The NSS unit and department of home science, Government College for Girls, observed nutrition month. An extension lecture by Dr Amandeep Kaur from the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Ludhiana, was organised. She discussed the causes of anemia and talked about preventive measures for the same. Principal Manju Sahni encouraged students to take healthy diet. TNS

NCC Unit holds cleanliness drive

Khanna: As per the instructions of the 5 Pb Battalion NCC, Patiala, the NCC unit of Gobindgarh Public College, Alour, took out a cleanliness drive at ESI dispensary, Mandi Gobindgarh, and its surrounding areas under the Swachhta Pakhwara initiative of the Government of India. Principal Neena Seth Pajni appreciated the efforts of the students and encouraged the NCC cadets for participating in such activities with. OC
