A 48-year-old woman, a city resident, met Police Commissioner (CP) Sukhchain Singh Gill here on Wednesday and sought registration of case against a Patiala- based cop and two others for allegedly raping her. The CP assured her that action would be taken on merit in the case.

The victim stated that in September 2016, the accused policeman along with two Chennai-based men to whom her son owed Rs 1.5 lakh barged into their home when she was alone. She said they asked her whereabouts of her son. The accused told her that they had arrest warrants against her son.

When she told them that her son had gone out of station, they started beating her. Later, they entered her room. Two of them raped her while one made a video of the crime.

The accused policeman, who is reportedly posted as Sub-Inspector in Patiala, then threatened her of dire consequences if she revealed the matter to the police.

“When the police did not take any action, we filed a petition in the High Court. While disposing of the petition the court issued a notice to the police in which officials were instructed to take necessary action in the case,” the woman told mediapersons. The ACP (South), Dharampal, said on directions of the court, the police was conducting a probe in the case. He, however, said allegations of woman were not found true during investigation.
