Rail travel on Asr-Delhi section an ordeal

Passengers travelling on the trunk route of Amritsar-Ludhiana-New Delhi remain at the receiving end as three intercity express trains, one Shatabdi Express and another express train on this section were running behind schedule by half an hour to 4.30 hours. The problem of weather-hit rail traffic was further compounded by the cancellation of nine trains and rescheduling of four trains for the day.

The Railways said 12460 Amritsar-New Delhi Intercity Express (4.15 hrs), 14682 Jalandhar-New Delhi Intercity Express (30 minutes), 14681 New Delhi-Jalandhar City Intercity Express (3 hrs), 12497 New Delhi-Amritsar Shan-e-Punjab (40 minutes) and 12037 New Delhi-Ludhiana Shatabdi Express (30 minutes) were running behind schedule.

Further, nine trains, including 12241/42 Chandigarh-Amritsar-Chandigarh Intercity Express, 13306 Amritsar-Howrah Mail, 14673 Jaynagar-Amritsar Shaheed Express, 15209/10 Saharsa-Amritsar-Saharsa Jansewa Express, 15211 Darbhanga-Amritsar Jannayak Express and 15707/08 Katihar-Amritsar-Katihar Amrapali Express trains remained cancelled for the day.

12460 Amritsar-New Delhi Intercity Express (2.30 hrs), 14681 New Delhi-Jalandhar Intercity Express (3 hrs), 15656 Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Kamakhya Express (1.50 hrs) and 12317 Kolkata-Amritsar Akal Takht Express (30 minutes) were rescheduled for late departure.
