Ludhiana, December 27
Though two intercity express trains between New Delhi and Amritsar, which remained off the track on Tuesday, were restored today, the rail traffic on this trunk route was far from normal.
Both pairs of intercity express trains, one pair each of Shatabdi Express and Shan-e-Punjab, along with Ludhiana-New Delhi Shatabdi Express, were running behind schedule by an hour to two and half hours. On other long routes, eight trains were cancelled, nine rescheduled, while most other main and express trains were running late.
Railway officials said the 12407 Newjalpaiguri-Amritsar Karambhoomi Express, the 13006 Amritsar-Howrah Mail, the 13151 Kolkata-Jammu Sealdah Express, the 14650 Amritsar-Jaynagar Saryu-Yamuna Express, the 14673 Jaynagar-Amritsar Shaheed Express, the 15209 Saharsa-Amritsar Jansewa Express, the 15210 Amritsar-Saharsa Jasewa Express and the 15211 Darbhanga-Amritsar Jannayak Express trains were cancelled for the day.
Due to the operational constraints, nine trains had to be rescheduled for late departure. These were the 12053 Haridwar-Amritsar Janshatabdi Express (1.45 hrs), the 12238 Jammu-Varansai Begumpura Express (2 hrs), the 12425 New Delhi-Jammu Rajdhani Express (1 hr), the 12498 Amritsar-New Delhi Shane-Punjab Express (1 hr), the 13050 Amritsar-Howrah Express (1.10 hrs), the 15656 Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Kamakhya Express (2.10 hrs), the 18238 Amritsar-Bilaspur Chhattisgarh Express (4.20 hrs) and the 22432 Udhampur-Allahabad Biweekly Express (4.45 hrs).
