Rail traffic limps back to normal

LUDHIANA: With two pairs of intercity express trains on the Amritsar/ Jalandhar-Ludhiana-New Delhi section being restored after about a week and Shatabdi express trains on this route also maintaining their schedule, there was huge relief for rail passengers, who had gone through an ordeal due to persistent erratic run and cancellation of trains at the 11th hour.

With two pairs of intercity express trains on the Amritsar/ Jalandhar-Ludhiana-New Delhi section being restored after about a week and Shatabdi express trains on this route also maintaining their schedule, there was huge relief for rail passengers, who had gone through an ordeal due to persistent erratic run and cancellation of trains at the 11th hour.

The late running of many long-route trains, however, continued as two trains were rescheduled and some 18 odd trains were running way behind schedule making passengers wait at the railway platforms for indefinite period.

Meanwhile, to clear extra rush of passengers during the ongoing festival season Northern Railways have decided to extend the run of the 82651/52 Yeshvantpur-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Yeshvantpur Weekly Suvidha Superfast Express Special Train and to run 02135/36 Pune-Jammu Tawi-Pune Superfast Weekly AC Special train.

The 82651 Yeshvantpur-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Weekly Suvidha Superfast Express Special Train would run on every Saturday from October 14 to October 28, 2017, while the 82652 Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Yeshvantpur Special Train would run on every Tuesday from October 17 to 31, 2017.

According to the railways, the 02135/02136 Pune-Jammu Tawi-Pune Superfast Weekly AC Special would make three trips in each direction.

The 02135Pune-Jammu Tawi Superfast Weekly AC Special train will depart from Pune at 5.15 am on every Wednesday from October 11 to 25, 2017, to reach Jammu Tawi at 6.00 pm the next day. In the return direction, the 02136 Jammu Tawi -Pune Superfast Weekly AC Special train will depart from Jammu Tawi at 07.20 am on every Friday from October 13 to October 27, 2017, to reach Pune at 8.05 pm the next day.

Comprising of 15 AC three-tier coaches, the 02135/02136 Pune-Jammu Tawi -Pune Superfast Weekly AC Special train will stop at Lonawala, Kalyan, Vasai Road, Vapi, Surat, Vadodara, Ratlam, Kota, Mathura, Delhi Safdarjung, Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana, Jallandhar Cantt and Pathankot Cantt stations en route both directions.

13005 Howrah-Amritsar Mail (14.20 hours), 15210 Amritsar-Saharsa Jansea Express (14 hours), 14674 Amritsar-Jaynagar Shaheed Express (11.10 hours), 12425 New Delhi-Jammu Rajdhani Express (11.10 hours), 13049 Howrah-Amritsar Express (10.35 hours), 14673 Jaynagar-Amritsar Shaheed Express (9.05 hours), 13006 Amritsar-Howrah Mail (7.30 hours), 15209 Saharsa-Amritsar Jansewa Express (6.15 hours), 13050 Amritsar-Howrah Express 6.10 hours), 12919 Indore-Jammu Malwa Express (6.10 hours), 12317 Kolkata-Amritsar Akaltakht Express (5 hours), 12469 Kanpur-Jammu Barfaani Express (4.25 hours).

Trains rescheduled

12413 Ajmer-Jammu Pooja Express (10 hours), 12474 Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Ahmedabad Sarvodaya Express (2 hours).
