Ludhiana pip Sangrur to clinch title

Ludhiana proved too good for Sangrur clinch the title in the boys U-19 section in kho-kho competition by 9-4 during the 64th Punjab Inter-District Schools Games, organised by the Punjab Education Department at Government Senior Secondary School (Boys), Jawahar Nagar here on Friday.

Hosts dominated the match and gave no chance to their opponents to settle down, fetching up the top honours. Sangrur had to content with the runners-up trophy.

The match to decide third position too, turned out to be a one-sided affair in which Patiala came out triumphant against Jalandhar without being challenged (9-2). In the semi-finals, Ludhiana defeated Patiala 11-4 and Sangrur outplayed Jalandhar 7-3 to secure berths in the summit clash.

Bikram Bhanot, Assistant Education Officer (Sports) was the chief guest at the prize distribution function. He congratulated the winners and thanked the department staff for their cooperation in conducting the event successfully.

Principal, Aradhna Nanda, Ajit Pal Singh, Dalwinder Singh Minhas, Gurvinder Singh, Rachhpal Singh Kang, Malvinder Singh, Roop Singh, Kulwant Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Kesar Singh, Ramandeep Kaur, Manjit Kaur, Kanwaljit Kaur, Jaswinder Kaur, Harminder Kaur, Pushpinder Kaur, Gagandeep Kaur, Sarabjit Kaur, Daljeet Kaur, Inderjeet Kaur, Jaspreet Singh Umaidpur (Tibba) and Sat Pal Singh among others were also present at the closing ceremony.
