Ludhiana: Officials of the Jagatpuri police post have nabbed a proclaimed offender (PO) wanted in a three-year-old cheating and criminal conspiracy case. The accused has been identified as Yogesh Gupta, a resident of Rajan Estate, Chuharpur Road. The police post in charge, Assistant Sub-Inspector Kapil Kumar, said the accused was booked by the city police under Sections 420, 120B and 448 of the IPC on June 20, 2015. Since then the accused was evading arrest. A tip-off was received on Thursday about his location following which a raid was conducted at the specific place from where the accused was arrested, he added. TNS

2 held with intoxicant tablets

Ludhiana: The Division No. 1 police have nabbed two drug peddlers and recovered intoxicant tablets from their possession in two separate cases. In the first case, the police nabbed Rajesh Kumar of Phillaur. He was arrested from the railway station by a police party during routine patrolling. The police recovered 60 tablets, 30 injections, and 30 bottles of banned medicine from his possession. In the second case, the police nabbed Rishad Ali of Guru Arjan Dev Nagar and recovered 50 intoxicant tablets, besides 20 bottles of banned medicine from him. Further probe was on in both the cases, said the police. TNS

Minor boy goes missing

Ludhiana: A 16-year-old boy has gone missing under mysterious circumstances. Complainant Mohammed Sufi, a resident of Sahnewal, told the police that his son Parman Ali had left home on bicycle on May 29, but did not return. He suspected that his son could have been kept under illegal confinement by some unknown persons. The police have launched a probe in the case. In a similar case, a 17-year-girl went missing from her home on the intervening night of June11-12. Her father Gurjinder Singh, a resident of New Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar, stated to the police that he suspected that his daughter could have been kidnapped by some unknown person on the pretext of marrying her. The police have launched a hunt to recover the girl. TNS
