The PPC Baseball Club warded off stiff challenge before prevailing upon Arya College (4-3) to win the title in men’s section in the 13th Senior Ludhiana District Baseball Tournament that concluded at Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town, here on Monday.
The final turned out to be a battle of nerves, in which PPC Club managed to scrape past their spirited opponents. Jatin, Gora and Ravi accounted for one run each to script victory for the PPC Club.
Earlier, in the semifinals, PPC Club defeated Satish Chander Dhawan Government College (4-1) with the main contributions coming through Ravi Dutt, Jatin and Vikram, while Arya College beat Guru Nanak International Public School (4-2) in which Jatinder, Deepak and Kapil played a pivotal role, chipping in with one run each.
In the match to decide the third place, SCD Government College got the better of Guru Nanak International Public School (1-0). The lone scorer was Ishwinder.
Sukhdev Singh Aulakh, secretary, Ludhiana District Baseball Association, distributed prizes. Harbir Singh Gill and other members of the association were also present.
