Ludhiana, July 22
Terming the probe being conducted by the Ludhiana Commissionerate in the killing of pastor Sultan Masih a mere eyewash, his kin led by several Christian community members today issued an ultimatum to the police to nab the killers soon. They said, “We will be forced to launch a massive protest against the police and the government if officials fail to arrest the accused.”
While addressing the media, the deceased’s son, Alisha, Christian leader Albert Dua and several pastors said, “A week has passed since pastor Sultan was shot dead, but the police probe is yet to see any outcome.”
Earlier, the Christian community had put off protest on assurance of the police that killers would be nabbed soon, but so far nothing logical had come out in the probe.
“We are answerable to the community as everyday people ask about the outcome of the probe,” they added.
They said, “Members of the Christian community from across the country will be participating in a ‘Memorial Service’ of pastor, which is will be held on July 24.”
“We want the police to nab the killers before July 24 and if it fails to do so then we have to go by the community. It is likely that Christians will again launch a massive protest against the police,” said Albert Dua.
He also alleged that now, family of pastor Sultan was living under fear because killers were roaming freely. “Who will be responsible if the killers harm any family member of the pastor? The police should also give security to his family to prevent any such incident in future,” he said.
