The police have got a major lead in the Rs 6.4-lakh loot from a showroom at Kochar Market in broad daylight. The black-coloured car used by the robbers was bought from a Delhi-based man just a month before the robbery.

A member of the investigation team told The Tribune that a perusal the car record revealed that the vehicle was sold by a Delhi-based man to a Muktsar resident in May this year. However, the Muktsar-based man was yet to be traced. Even the Delhi-based previous owner of the car, whose address was found on the car’s registration documents, could not be traced in Delhi.

On June 14, four armed men, posing as CIA staff, looted Rs 6.4 lakh from a tiles showroom, ‘Krishna Ceremic’, at Kochar Market in broad daylight. One of the robbers was wearing police uniform with the name plate reading Ujagar Singh. The robbers came on a black-coloured Skoda car.

Robbers captured on toll barrier camera

The robbers committed robbery at the tile showroom in Kochar Market around 1 pm.  Around 2.25 pm, they were captured on CCTV cameras of a toll plaza on the Barnala road. However, in footage the car is shown with both front and rear number plates. The front number plate was reportedly missing when the robbers committed the robbery. There are no clear images of robbers in the footage
