Ludhiana July 8

A 21-year-old D Pharmacy student committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan at his residence in Lohara on Friday night.

The deceased, Angad Yadav, was a native of UP. The cause behind taking the extreme step was yet to be ascertained and no suicide note was recovered from the spot.

He was pursuing D Pharmacy from GGN Khalsa College. At present, he was undergoing training at the Ludhiana Civil Hospital. Deceased’s brother Tulsi Ram said he, along with his brother, had been living at a rented accommodation in Lohara for the past several years. Both were unmarried.

“Yesterday at 7.30 pm, when I reached home, my brother asked me to prepare some food as he was hungry. After I served food to him, I left for the market. When I returned after one-and-a-half hours, he did not open the door. Suspecting some foul play, when I peeped from the window, I was stunned to see him hanging from the fan. When I entered the room after breaking the door, he was already dead,” Tulsi said. On being asked about the reason why his brother could have committed suicide, he said he was himself surprised. “We both were living happily here” he said.

The police searched the room, but no suicide note was recovered. Considering no foul play, the police have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPc.— TNS
