Ludhiana, May 14

The ‘Nobel Prize Series – India 2019’ will be organised at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on September 10 this year.

The event is a part of the five year collaboration between the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India; and Nobel Media, Sweden. The Nobel Prize series is an annual initiative that brings together nobel laureates, experts and eminent scientists to stimulate innovation and creative thinking among scientists, teachers and students across the country.

This is the third edition of the series and PAU has been chosen as the host. The first two editions were held in Gujarat and in Goa in 2017 and 2018, respectively. Lena Abrahamsson from the Nobel Media Foundation, Sara Larsson of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce India and the Nobel Media of Sweden held a meeting with officials of the PAU regarding the preparations for the mega event.

Larsson said the series would include an array of conferences, lectures, roundtables and exhibitions, besides panel discussion with nobel laureates in physics, chemistry, medicine and peace.

In his opening remarks, the PAU Vice Chancellor, BS Dhillon, expressed delight at Punjab being selected as the host. He said the faculty and students would benefit from the programme.
