PAU staff submit memo to MLA

The Executive Council of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Employees’ Union under the leadership of President Baldev Singh Walia submitted a memorandum to Bharat Bhushan Ashu, MLA, Ludhiana East constituency.

The employees submitted memorandum regarding non-fulfillment of their demands and non-compliance of the state government notifications by the PAU authorities. Walia said the demands of employees, including promotions of non-teaching employees, reduction in period of experience for promotion of technical staff, arrear of conveyance allowance of store keepers, were pending from a long time.

Walia said the Punjab Government had issued a letter on May 24 in which instructions were issued to all Head of the state to convene meetings of departmental promotion committees from time to time to fill up the vacant posts. In the letter, it was further mentioned that the meetings be called for the promotions at least once in a quarter in a calendar year to assure to give promotion against the vacant posts in time, and the responsibility of the officer will be fixed if promotions are not given in time. But the PAU authorities have not taken any step in this regard.

Ashu assured the executive council that if their demands were not fulfilled by the PAU authorities soon, he would arrange a meeting between the union and the Chief Minister.
