PAU scientist honoured

LUDHIANA: Dr Nitika Sandhu, Assistant Professor, School of Agricultural Biotechnology, Punjab Agricultural University, has been awarded the “Young Scientist Award” for best oral presentation on “Marker-assisted QTLs/gene introgression and pyramiding improving grain yield and adaptability under dry direct seeded rice cultivation conditions” at international conference on “Food Security - Challenges and opportunities” held on December 7-8, at the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala.

Dr Nitika Sandhu, Assistant Professor, School of Agricultural Biotechnology, Punjab Agricultural University, has been awarded the “Young Scientist Award” for best oral presentation on “Marker-assisted QTLs/gene introgression and pyramiding improving grain yield and adaptability under dry direct seeded rice cultivation conditions” at international conference on “Food Security - Challenges and opportunities” held on December 7-8, at the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala.

Dr Nitika has also been the recipient of CSIR/UGC Junior Research Fellowship, IRRI Seed Grant Post Doctorate Fellowship award and UNLEASH-LAB Innovation Award. She has four years of post-doctorate from the IRRI, Philippines. At present, she is working on development of climate resilient direct seeded rice varieties and nutrient use efficiency and double haploid production system in wheat.

Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU; and Dr Parveen Chhuneja, Director School of Agricultural Biotechnology, congratulated Dr Nitika for bringing laurels to the varsity.
