Ludhiana, September 17
Thanks to fine bowling by Karan Kaila (4 for 71) and Rajwinder Singh (3 for 105), followed by resolute batting performance by Jeevanjot (98 not out), which steered Patiala to script an emphatic nine wicket victory over hosts Ludhiana in the semifinal of the Punjab State Inter-District Katoch Shield Cricket Championship played at the Punjab Agricultural University campus ground here today.
After gaining 46 runs lead in the first innings, the visitors today bowled out the hosts to 180 runs in the second innings. Kashish was the top scorer with 41 runs while Nikhil Chaudhary and Sunny Pandey chipped in 39 and 38 runs. For Patiala, Karan and Rajwinder shared bowling honours taking seven wickets between them whereas three Ludhiana batsmen were run out.
Patiala made 135 runs in only 24.1 overs at the loss of one wicket to win the match. The highlight of their second innings was a strokeful 98 runs that came off in 80 balls with the help of one six and 12 boundaries.
Patiala will face Jalandhar in the final to be played at the PCA Stadium, Mohali, from September 20 to 22.\
