Patiala district secured 39 points to emerge overall champions in the Punjab State (U-14) Games for Boys that concluded at Guru Nanak Stadium here on Friday.

Hosts Ludhiana garnered 25 points to finish as first runners-up while Mohali with 24 points had to content with the third position.

The three-day games were conducted by the Punjab Sports Department and Punjab State Sports Council under the Tandarust Punjab Mission to commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.

Competition in 20 sports disciplines was held during these games in which more than 3,000 participants battled it out for top honours.

In gymasntics, Sarthak from Mohali collected 63.20 points and was declared the best gymnast. Salil of Patiala scored 58.10 points to secure the second position while Lalit of Patiala with 55.55 points finished at the third place.

Kartar Singh Sehmbey, deputy director, Sports, Punjab, gave away the prizes to the winners. He congratulated the position holders and their mentors.

Ravinder Singh, District Sports Officer, Ludhiana, thanked the staff for organising the event successfully.

Final day’s results

Athletics, 200m race: Deepak Thakur of Fatehgarh Sahib stood first, Paramveer Singh of Moga second and Jobanpreet Singh of Ferozepur third.

600m race: Karan kumar of Mohali stood first, Ankit Kumar of Jalandhar second and Harpreet Singh of Ropar third.

4x100m relay race: Ferozepur stood first, Amritsar second and Patiala third.

Badminton: Pathankot stood first, Jalandhar second, and Ludhiana and Gurdaspur third.

Kho-kho: Ludhiana stood first, Sangrur second, and Jalandhar and Patiala third.

Gymnastics: Patiala stood first, Mohali second and Gurdaspur and Ludhiana third.

Table tennis: Mohali stood first, Jalandhar second, and Sangrur and Barnala third.

Swimming: Ludhiana (28 points) stood first, Mohali (26 points) second and Faridkot (22 points) third.

Football: Hoshiarpur first, Jalandhar second and Ropar third.

Handball: Ferozepur stood first, Patiala second and Fazilka third.

Kabaddi (circle style): Kapurthala stood first, Guraspur second, and Moga and Ferozepur third.

Kabaddi (national style): Amritsar stood first, Patiala second, and Ludhiana and Sangrur third.

Hockey: Jalandhar stood first, Mohali second and Bathinda third.

Boxing: Patiala (14 points) stood first, Amritsar (12 points) second and Sangrur (10 points) third.

Volleyball: Mohali stood first, Ludhiana second and Amritsar third.

Roller skating: Sangrur (25 points) stood first, Jalandhar (18 points) second and Patiala (13 points) third.

Archery: Fazilka (634 points) stood first, Patiala (558 points) second and Muktsar (556 points) third.
