Parents assn seeks refund, takes matter to Edu Department

Parents associations from different schools had a meeting today at the Circuit House in Ludhiana today. 

After the discussion regarding the school fee, the members said that as results of the fee committee decisions have come in their favour. Now, they will apprise of the same to the Education Department, DPI (Schools), and district administration to seek refunds from schools for the ‘extra’ fee and inordinate annual charges that they had to pay to schools. 

“We will also write to the Divisional Commisssioner to get the decisions of the fee committee be implemented within 30 days. If it is not done, then we will approach to the Punjab and Haryana High Court in this matter,” said Swaroop Singh, one of the parents said. 

The members said looting of parents was being done in the name of education and ‘school mafia’ must not be allowed to carry on their own unfair will in the decisions regarding the school fee. They also sought the implementation of refund order passed by Justice (retired) Amar Dutt Fee Regulatory Committee. Apart from those from the district, parents from Khanna, Rajpura, Patiala, Nabha, Bhawanigarh (Sangrur), Bathinda had come for the meeting held at the Circuit House. 

Nitin Goyal, another parent said those who won the case will write a letter to their schools with copy to Deputy Commissioner, DEO, Principal Secretary and the DPI to implement this order within 30 days and file case in the High Court. 

Gurvinder Sharma, a parent from Bathinda, said despite the government having completed its two months in the state and nothing has been done  for relief of parents from this problem.
