One-year-old boy crushed to death

LUDHIANA: One-year-old boy, who was playing outside his house, was crushed to death by a car at the New Angad Dev Colony, Shimlapuri, on Sunday evening.

One-year-old boy, who was playing outside his house, was crushed to death by a car at the New Angad Dev Colony, Shimlapuri, on Sunday evening. According to family of the deceased, Rohit was playing near gate of the house. After the incident, critically injured Rohit was rushed to a hospital, but he died on the way.

In his complaint to the police, Rohit’s father Dharmvir Kumar stated that an unidentified man was reversing his white coloured car when the incident took place.

“The head of my son was crushed under the car tyres. My son died while he was being taken to a hospital. However, the accused fled from the spot,” he alleged.

The victim’s father is a fruit vendor. He has five children, including four girls and the boy, who was youngest among all.

A case under Sections 279 (rash driving), 304-A (causing death by negligence), IPC, has been registered against unidentified perosn at the Shimlapuri police station. Investigating officer Sukhveer Singh said, “We are making efforts to identify the car driver, who crushed the boy. Footage of the CCTV cameras is also being checked.”
