One held with stolen scooters

The Shimlapuri police claimed to have nabbed a notorious thief and recovered three stolen Activa scooters and other valuables from his possession. The accused has been identified as Mandeep Singh, alias Manni, a resident of Harkrishan Nagar. In a statement the Shimlapuri SHO, Mohd Jamil, said Gurdeep Singh of Dashmesh Nagar had complained to the police that on October 16, he had gone to pay electricity bill and had parked his two-wheeler outside the PSPCL office. When he came back, he found his scooter stolen. The SHO said acting on a tip off the accused was arrested and three Activa scooters, including the one stolen on October 16, were recovered from his possession on Friday. Several numbers plates were also recovered from the accused. The police said two day police remand of the accused was taken from the court. More recoveries could be made in a further probe, officials added.
