Nigerian among four held for smuggling drugs

SAMRALA: The Samrala Police claimed to have arrested a Nigerian who is an inter-state smuggler along with three others in two different incidents and recovered cocine and charas from their possession apart from currency of different 11 countries and old Indian Currency notes of Rs 22,000.

The Samrala Police claimed to have arrested a Nigerian who is an inter-state smuggler along with three others in two different incidents and recovered cocine and charas from their possession apart from currency of different 11 countries and old Indian Currency notes of Rs 22,000.

Stating about it Samrala Police officials gave information that the alleged accused were arrested during a naka after secret information. The police officials said the police had laid a naka near Otalan village on Samrala-Khanna road.

During checking they stopped a car coming from Machhiwara side in which the Nigerian resident identified as Manrko was sitting while Ramakant of Delhi was driving the car.

During their search the police party recovered 25gm cocine from the pocket of Manrko.

In another incident, a police party of Samrala Police stopped a Safari vehicle on a naka laid on Ludhiana-Chandigarh road in which two persons named Manjinder Singh and Achitdheer of Ludhiana were travelling.

During their search the police party recovered six grams of cocaine, 100gm charas apart from currency of different countries. The currency recovered include 2,280 Baht of Thailand,625 Euros, 100 Australian dollars, 80 Dirham of Dubai, one Switzerland dollar, 120 Hongkong dollar, 10 Singapore dollars, 500 USA traveler cheques, a Malaysian dollar, 120 China notes, 2,000 Russian notes and 22,000 Indian currency notes of one thousand each.

Samrala DSP GP Singh said the four smugglers belong to the same group but were arrested in two different incidents. He said that the arrested were presented in a court from where they were sent on police remand for two days.
