NIA team recreates attack on Sena leader in city

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today recreated the attack on Shiv Sena leader Amit Arora. The NIA team was reportedly accompanied by officials of the CBI and the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL).

The team took Arora to the Basti Jodhewal chowk in the morning where Arora was attacked by two bike-borne persons on February 3, 2016, while he was sitting in his car. Arora was made to sit in the car and two bike-borne persons with their faces covered were told to act as assailants. It took the team three or four hours to recreate the crime. The CFSL officials also took part in the exercise.

The local police also accompanied the NIA team and assisted them in the case.

Meanwhile, Arora was taken to Delhi where he had to appear as a witness against the accused nabbed in the case. Yesterday, he also appeared before the CBI court in Mohali.

Arora is one of the victims targeted by the accused nabbed for seven targeted killings of religious leaders. He had escaped with a minor bullet injury. Earlier, the Ludhiana police had arrested Arora on the charge that he had stage-managed the attack to get security cover. But after the Punjab police busted the terror module and nabbed two sharpshooters, Ramandeep Singh and Hardeep Singh Shera, Arora was absolved of the charge. He has been provided with security now.
