Fun activities mark annual sports meet at Sahnewal

Sacred Heart Convent School, Sahnewal, celebrated its 16th annual sports meet-cum-cultural bonanza ‘Exsupero-2019’ with pomp and show.

The chief guest of the opening ceremony was Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, former MLA, Sahnewal, and the guest of honour was the Msgr. Xavier Thazhathuveettil, Chairman of Diocese Board of Education. The special guest was alumnus Gurkomal Singh who proved his mettle at the national level athletics. The dignitaries were welcomed with saplings and were pinned badges by director of the school William Sahota, Principal Crispin Maria and the school cabinet.

The Annual Sports Meet 2019 was declared open formally by the chief guest. An oath was administered to students to participate in the sports day with true sportsman spirit followed by spectacular march-past. Prayer dance laid the ground for other performances like musical PT, drill dance, aerobics, zumba and fusion dance.

All the students participated with great excitement in track and field events. Notable among them were various kinds of races including relay race, 100m, 200m and 400m races for the boys and girls in the senior and junior category. The audience appreciated the races and cheered the athletes. The students touched the hearts strings of one and all with their scintillating performances, spelling out happiness to an amazed audience. The ground echoed the triumphant yells of the winners.

The closing ceremony kicked off with the most electrifying housewise events of 400m relay race.

Tug of war between participants added bling to already geared up crowd. The sparkling performance of the day was the grand finale showcasing the theme declared by the United Nations for the year 2019 ‘Indigenous Languages’. The parents were left awe-struck and they enjoyed the show spell bound.
