Aradhya selected for DAV cricket championship

LUDHIANA: Aradhya Shukla, student of DAV Public School, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar branch, is selected for the DAV National Cricket Championship (U-19) slated to be held at Hyderabad, next month.

Aradhya Shukla, student of DAV Public School, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar branch, is selected for the DAV National Cricket Championship (U-19) slated to be held at Hyderabad, next month.

Aradhya and Kapish Dhir from the school performed well with the ball in the DAV Cluster Cricket Tournament and were selected to represent the DAV Jalandhar Zone in the DAV State Level Tournament wherein the duo did not let the selectors down and contributed their bit to steer their team emerge champions.

In the semifinal, against Bathinda Zone, Aradhya Shukla sent down three overs, conceded just 10 runs and secured one wicket as Jalandhar Zone came out triumphant.

In the final, Jalandhar Zone took on Amritsar Zone which was led by India U-19 player, Salil Arora wherein Aradhya Shukla and Kapish Dhir excelled with the ball. Aradhya scalped one victim for 14 runs in three overs whereas Kapish, though went wicket-less, bowled at an economic rate and enabled their side defend score of 126 runs. Jalandhar clinched the issue which also fetched them the winners’ trophy.

Besides, Aradhya Shukla represented Ludhiana district U-14 and U-16 categories in the Inter-District Cricket Tournament for Punjab Championship and made his presence felt.

Appreciating the boys’ achievement, Jaswinder Kaur Sidhu, principal of the school, congratulated their coach Amandeep Singh and wished them success in future championships also. She said this would motivate other students to take active part in games.
