Ludhiana, October 18

Wholesale cracker dealers are happy as they expect good business in the coming days.

Talking to The Tribune, Pradeep Gupta, president, Dana Mandi Cracker Association, said from tomorrow onwards, wholesale dealers would start displaying/sale of crackers at Dana Mandi for which the administration had provided 13 sites.

“It’s from these sites that crackers will be sold to retailers, who will further sell these from their respective outlets. Crackers are brought from Sivakasi, a town in Tamil Nadu, known for fire-crackers and manufacturing of matchboxes,” said Gupta.

He added that Chinese crackers were totally banned in the market and they didn’t get Chinese stuff.

“For the past three-four years, we have not been getting Chinese stuff. In fact, crackers from Sivakasi are the best and favourite and we expect a good business,” he said.

In Ludhiana, crackers worth about Rs 30-40 crore are sold every year.
