Ludhiana, September 2

A swimming coach of Sutlej Club was allegedly looted of Rs 49,000 by a cyber criminal on the pretext of returning the money spent on wrongly booked airline ticket.

Victim Jatinder Singh of New Kartar Nagar stated that in March this year, he had booked a ticket from Delhi to Bangalore on a Goibibo app, but when the ticket was generated, booking showed from Delhi to Mumbai.

“I then contacted the airline’s customer care. I was told to book a fresh ticket and then the procedure to refund the wrongly booked ticket would be initiated. I then called at some mobile number found on Google. The person, who attended call, told me to click on a link shown on my Goibibo app and Rs 10,000 would be refunded back into my account. The moment I clicked on the link, Rs 49,000 got deducted from my account,” the victim stated.

He then filed a complaint with the cyber cell where cops told him the conman, who looted cash, operated from the West Bengal side. After months of probe, finally police registered an FIR at the Model Town police station in this connection.

The victim urged the police to nab the culprit so that his money could be refunded.
