Two nabbed with 418-gram heroin, cash

Special task force has nabbed two drug peddlers and recovered 418 gram of heroin, Rs 72,000 drug money and a car from their possession. They have been identified as Harpreet Singh, alias Harji (34) of Shimlapuri and Mukesh Kumar Mintu (32) of GGS Nagar, Daba.

The STF in-charge, Harbans Singh, said they got a tip-off that the two peddlers were on the way to deliver drugs. The police set up a naka at Nirmal Nagar, Dugri, where they signalled a car to stop. Its search yielded the heroin and cash.

During preliminary questioning, Harpreet said he was into the business of water filter installation while Mukesh said he ran a mobile repair shop on Gill Road.

The duo confessed that they were also addicted to drugs, and to bear their expenses on drugs, they started this illegal trade. Mukesh is already facing a drug smuggling case and he had come out of jail on bail about four months ago.

The accused also admitted that got the heroin from Kewal Krishan of Shimlapuri.
