Youth jumps to death from Westend floor

LUDHIANA: A 20-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of the Westend mall situated on Ferozepur Road last night.

A 20-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of the Westend mall situated on Ferozepur Road last night. He was reportedly depressed.

The deceased has been identified as Aman Negi, son of Narinder Negi, a resident of Lakshmi Nagar. He was a student of BTech third year at Gulzar College, Khanna.

The investigating officer, ASI Lakhwinder Masih, said the youth had told his family that he was going to watch a movie with his friends at 11.30.pm on Thursday night. He went to the fourth floor of the mall and jumped from there.

According to Aman’s parents, he had been depressed for the past four months and often remained quiet at home. Many a time his parents tried to know the reason for his sadness, but he revealed nothing.

Suspecting no foul play, the police initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC. The body was handed over to the family after postmortem.

The ASI said it was still not clear whether Aman watched a movie. Also there was no information about the friends with whom he went to watch the movie.

Often remained quiet at home

According to Aman’s parents, he had been depressed for the past four months and often remained quiet at home. Many a time his parents tried to know the reason for his sadness, but he revealed nothing.
