Ludhiana, August 14

The Meharban police claimed to have solved the week-old blind murder case with the arrest of two suspects. The victim, Manoj Kumar, was native of Bihar. The arrested suspects have been identified as Ajay Rai of Bihar, presently residing at Star City Colony and Anil, also a resident of the same colony.

While addressing mediapersons during a press conference, ADCP (IV) Ajinder Singh, ACP Davinder Chaudhary and SHO Kulwant Singh said victim’s brother Munish Kumar told the police that Manoj had developed illicit relationship with Ram Kumari Devi, wife of Ajay, the main suspect.

When Ajay came to know about affair of his wife he hatched a conspiracy to kill Manoj. He connived with his brothers Satyam and Suresh Rai and friends Jhoom Lal and Anil Kumar to commit the crime. On August 5, all the suspects took Manoj on Chota Hathi (Tata Ace) and after beating him to death, dumped his body on the Kakka road.

Ajay and Anil were rounded up after the police conducted technical investigation on suspicion. During interrogation the suspects confessed to have killed Manoj.

The police also recovered Tata Ace, a motorcycle and sharp weapon used in the crime. A gold chain and mobile phone of the victim was also recovered from the suspects, which they had taken away after murder.

The police said raids were on to nab the remaining suspects in the case.
