Yoga workshop held at DMCH

LUDHIANA: On the occasion of World Yoga Week, a free yoga workshop was held at the private OPD block of the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital today.

On the occasion of World Yoga Week, a free yoga workshop was held at the private OPD block of the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital today.

The workshop was organised jointly by the Department of Pain Management and the Department of Yoga. The purpose of organising the workshop was to guide patients and public at large to make them know the benefits of yoga as an additional therapy to treat chronic pain and help in maintaining general wellness.

Vice- Principal Dr GS Wander along with Medical Superintendent Dr Sandeep Sharma formally inaugurated the workshop. Dr Wander said in recent times, yoga had gained prominence in curing many ailments and helped people in leading a balanced and healthy life.

In his message, Secretary Prem Kumar Gupta lauded the efforts of organisers in organising the workshop.

Dr Suneet Kathuria, Professor of Anaesthesia and in-charge of Pain Management Clinic, emphasised on the learning of yoga techniques for getting relief from chronic pain problems.

Dr Sanjeev Singh Rawat, yoga consultant of DMCH, along with Sanjeev Tyagi demonstrated many yoga asanas which was well-appreciated by the audience. A special yoga exercise of laughing in group brought smile on the faces of all those present at the private OPD block of the hospital.

Dr PL Gautam, Professor and Head of Critical Care Medicine, also performed various typical yoga asanas which was a surprise for many present on the occasion.

The participants, who were demonstrating splendid yoga exercises, made the audience spellbound with their amazing feats.
