Ludhiana, June 18

A board of doctors which was formed to inquire into the case of patient Ramandeep Kaur of Rajgarh village has submitted its inquiry report. According to the report, action will be taken against two Directorate of National Board (DNB) residents and two staff nurses as they did not perform the delivery of the patient.

The board of doctors comprising Dr Varun Saggar, Dr Surubhi Singhal and Dr Gurbinder Kaur under the chairmanship of SMO Dr Geeta inquired into the matter.

The patient was referred from CHC Pakhowal with pain in abdomen and bleeding at 16 weeks of gestation and was admitted to the labour room of the Mother and Child Hospital on June 6.

Attendants have alleged that they requested time and again to the staff to examine the patient, but nobody paid heed to their requests and in the end, they themselves had to perform the delivery and the patient delivered her foetus on her bed.

In the written report submitted by the board, it said it was of the opinion that at time of the expulsion of the product of conception, the medical team was not present by the side of the patient and as a result, she delivered foetus on bed. Gynaecologist Dr Baljeet Kaur who was on duty was not informed about the condition of the patient and action has been recommended against two DNB residents and two staff nurses.
