Polling in Khanna and Samrala Assembly segment falling under the Fatehgarh Sahib and Ludhiana Lok Sabha constituency passed of peacefully.

The voting began on a slow note and no queues were witnessed till the noon. In the evening, voters turned out in good numbers to cast their votes. At Kot Sekhon and Panaich village, voting began after one hour as the machines failed to start. Later, the machines were changed. As the the voters had to wait to exercise their franchise, some voters could been heading back to their homes.

Khanna SDM claimed that the machines were changed within a specific time and voting went on smoothly.

Amir Chand (100), a resident of Model Town Amloh road, Khanna, exercised his franchise and was honoured by Khanna MLA Gurkirat Singh Kotli.

Senior citizen Chander Kanta, a resident of Jagat Colony, Khanna, sat on a protest in front of a polling booth at Narotam Vidya Mandir as her name was missing from the voters list. She had come to cast vote along with his family members but could not vote. Kanta said she had voted in 2014 General Elections and now her name was deleted from the voters list.

A 93-year-old-voter Gobind Singh was assisted by a youngster Jatinder Singh Joga at Balala village to cast his vote.

Khanna SSP GS Grewal said the polling passed of peacefully in Khanna.

In Khamano voting started around two hours late at Ranwan and Jatana village as EVMs developed snag.
