Ludhiana, May 19

Rajesh Kumar (44) a resident of Shimlapuri, had a shock when he went to cast his vote only to find that someone else has cast his vote at a polling station in Lohara today.

The man said he would file a complaint with the Election Commission of India to seek action against the person, who fraudulently cast his vote. Rajesh, who works at a garment shop in Model Town, said he went to cast vote around 11.30 am. He was handed over a voting slip by agents of political parties. In that slip, his booth number was mentioned 93 while voter number was 413.

“The moment I entered the polling booth and handed over my voting slip, I was shocked when the election official told me that my vote was already cast. When I questioned the election official about the person who did so, they had no answer,” Rajesh added.

When the voting slip was issued to him, how come someone else had already cast his vote, Rajesh asked. He suspected that someone had duplicated his vote. He did not level any allegation on any political party but he said it was a sorry state of affairs.

He said he had been casting his vote for the past two decades and he did not face any such issue earlier. He would submit a complaint to the Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner so that the alleged issue of duplication of votes could be cleared.
