More than 7 lakh in cash was stolen from the office of a local contractor past night. The police have booked Deepak Bahadur, a Nepalese national, who worked as cook in the office of the contractor. The suspect has absconded.

A case was registered on a complaint of Inderjeet Singh, an accountant in the office of the contractor. In his complaint to the police, Inderjeet has stated that he works as accountant with a city-based contractor. He collected about Rs 8 lakh from the market and kept the money in the locker of an office almirah on Sunday night.

“Late in the night when we checked the almirah, we were shocked to find money missing. When we enquired, we found that our chef, Deepak Bahadur, was also missing. We suspect that money had been stolen by Deepak,” said Inderjeet.
