Ludhiana, April 19

A professor of CT University, under the Research and Innovation Centre (RICE), claims to have invented smart shoes and smart T-shirt. Dr Harmeet Singh, Assistant Professor, School of Engineering and Technology, said the smart shoes vibrated when people wearing these don’t walk properly, step wrongly on stairs or are stationary at a place for more than 15 minutes. Similarly, the smart T-shirt also vibrates when a proper sitting posture is not maintained, he said.

“I got the idea of smart shoes and T-shirt from daily life. We do not focus on our walking, sitting or standing patterns, which are of utmost importance for our health. Both products are a result of team work of students. A patent has been filed and the products will be available for sale as finished goods,” said Dr Harmeet.

The module of both products takes a week’s time for preparation and can support USB charging. Both smart products have sensors with batteries attached.

V-C Dr Harsh Sadawarti said: “RICE is a promising platform to give a hands-on experience to students. These smart products are the result of the hard work of the faculty and students.” — TNS
