Ludhiana, April 17

Following a complaint, the Town Planner (headquarters) in the Department of Local Bodies has asked the Municipal Commissioner to take required action on alleged illegal constructions at Pakhowal Road and Ferozepur Road in Ludhiana.

Baljeet Singh, a city resident, has blamed the authorities for not taking action against the buildings being constructed in violation of bylaws.

The town planner has given directions to take necessary action as per law against the illegal constructions.

The officer has also sought action taken report from the civic body. The copy of the report would be sent to the complainant too.

Baljeet Singh said, “Illegal, unapproved and non-compoundable constructions are going on. The civic body has failed to ensure implementation of the building bylaws.”

“Building branch officials are hand in glove with the constructors. After issuing challans, no action is taken further. The matter must be probed and action should be taken against the guilty. The authorities must pay attention to ensure proper implementation of the rules,” he said. — TNS
