LUDHIANA: Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, felicitated its achievers during the annual prize distribution function held on the college campus on Saturday. Ashutosh Baranwal, Principal Commissioner, GST Commissionerate, Ludhiana, graced the occasion as the chief guest.  The function was attended by a large number of guests comprising veteran academicians, members of the college governing body and parents of the students.  Welcoming the chief guest, Principal Manjit Kaur Ghuman read out the annual report of the college and highlighted the achievements of the students and the faculty in diverse fields.  The college is celebrating the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev as well as its Golden Jubilee year, which makes the occasion more special. Ashutosh Baranwal also inaugurated exhibitions by the the department of fine arts and department of psychology, which proved to be a visual treat for guests and the audience. Lauding the achievements of students in various fields, the chief guest congratulated the college for the ever-rising graph of their achievements.  While addressing the prize winners he recited a poem “If” by famous poet Rudyard Kipling. He also talked to students about issues such as GST, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan and stubble burning. He motivated the prize winners to excel in their fields. In the event, 185 students were awarded for their hard work in academics and co-curricular activities in 2018-19 session. In addition, general prizes were also given to students who have excelled in various fields. Simran Haryani was given the Best Singer title, Inderpreet Kaur was adjudged Best in Dramatics and Harveen Kaur bagged the Best Artist title. — TNS
