Amid celebrations after winning panchayat elections, two cases of alleged violence have been reported from different villages in the district.

A newly-elected sarpanch of Partap Singh Wala along with his kin and others has been booked for allegedly thrashing and abusing a man of same village. In his complant to the police Veerbhan Singh of Partap Singh Wala village alleged that suspects while celebrating their win started challenging and abusing him.

“I was outside my residence when they started abusing me. When I tried to stop them from doing so, they thrashed and threatened me,” stated Veerbhan in his complaint.

The PAU police have registered a case under Sections 323, 341, 506, 34, 427 and 294, IPC, against sarpanch Gurmej Singh, his wife Paramjit Kaur, his son Vicky, his daughter Nisha and two others, including Bobby and Kuldeep, of the same village.

“Veerbhan and Gurmej are neighbours. Veerbhan had lost in the elections. Investigation is underway,” said ASI Rafiq Mohammad.

In another case, the Koom Kalan police have booked some persons for allegedly beating a resident of Bonkar Gujjaran village. The complainant, Pirlak, told the police that suspects were under influence of liquor while they were celebrating win in panchayat elections. “When they came in front of my shop, they started beating me,” the complainant alleged.

A case has been registered against Angrej Singh, Sucha Singh, Satnam Singh, Mahinder Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Balwinder Singh, Angrez Singh, Satnam Singh and Mukhtiar Singh of Bonkar Gujjaran village.
