Murder: Sharp shooter’s remand extended

The police remand for sharpshooter Hardeep Singh Shera and Ramandeep Singh allegedly involved in the killings of eight persons in the state, including Durga Parsad Gupta, Shiv Sena leader of Khanna, and Dera followers — father Satpal and son Ramesh — at Jagera, was extended by the court of Khanna.

They were presented in the court today, where Judge Radhika Puri extended the police remand of the two for three days. SSP Khanna Navjot Singh Mahal said the accused would be questioned about two firing cases. Ramandeep’s mother Gurnam Kaur and father Gurdev Singh, however, said their son was being falsely implicated. Meanwhile, another accused Jagjit Singh Jaggi Johl was also brought on transit remand and presented in court. He was sent in police custody for four days. He said Johl was also an accused in Durga Parsad murder case and his role in other murders was also being probed. — OC
