It seems that the Jagraon Municipal Council fares poorly when it comes to learning from the past mistakes. Blocked sewers and flooded streets become a common sight and headache for residents whenever it rains.

Seeing no work being done on the ground, residents have become skeptical and lost their trust in civic body and its officials.

Though monsoon is round the corner and the Meteorological Department has predicted good rains but the authorities have yet not waken up from their deep slumber.

Other than cleaning drains, Ganda Nullah which carries waste water of entire town has not been cleaned till date and is full of filth.

Rajat Arora, a resident said, “The monsoon is arriving but the authorities have still not commenced a drive to clean drains.”

Another resident Vikas Kapoor said, “The Municipal Council has failed to make adequate arrangements to deal with the problem of water logging. Authorities should immediately start cleaning Ganda Nullah and other drains.”

Jagraon Municipal Council president Charanjit Kaur Kalyan said, “The work of cleaning drains has already started and is being done at good pace. Ganda Nullah would also be cleaned soon and work would be completed within one-week.”
