Missing farmer found dead in canal

The body of Harpal Singh (78), a farmer of nearby Badla village, who had been missing for the past two days, was found in Bhakra Canal near Patiala. Harpal went missing from his house on July 11. His body was recovered from the canal on Friday afternoon. 

Meanwhile, members of Harpal’s family met the Fatehgarh Sahib SSP. They blamed certain persons for driving Harpal to suicide and demanded action against them. 

Kheri Naaudh Singh SHO Gurdip Kaur, SI, said no case was registered in this regard and the body of the deceased was handed over to his guardians after post-mortem. She said the members of the deceased’s family had submitted a complaint to the Fatehgarh Sahib SSP who had marked an inquiry to the Khamano police. — OC
