Ministerial staff threaten to intensify agitation

Ludhiana, February 16

Members of the Punjab State Ministerial Services Union have threatened to intensify their stir if the government failed to fulfil their demands in the Cabinet sub-committee meeting scheduled to be held on February 21.

A meeting of the union members was held here on Saturday. Their major demands include early release of DA instalments, arrears and implementation of the 6th Pay Commission.

Megh Singh Sidhu, state president of the union, said they went on strike on February 13 and have decided to extend it till February 21.

Various services were badly affected in government offices, including at the district administration and the Civil Surgeon’s office due to the pen-down strike of the ministerial staff. Visitors are being forced to return without getting their work done. “Visitors face a lot of harassment as employees are on strike. The government must take necessary measures to sort out the problem at the earliest,” said Arvind Kumar Sharma, a city resident.— TNS
