Ludhiana, December 12

The Division No. 4 police have booked a man on the charge of stealing goods from three houses here. He has been identified as Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Jangiana.

In the first case, Sahil Karla of Shivpuri Road has alleged that on December 1, all members of his family were sleeping when a thief entered his house and decamped with a mobile phone, cash, the RC of a motorcycle and other important documents. When he woke to an unusual sound, he saw the thief stealing cash and valuables. He tried to overpower him, but the thief snatched his phone and fled the scene on his motorcycle.

Another complainant, Sanjay Kumar of Daresi has alleged that on November 28, renovation work was under way at his home when Ramesh entered the house and stole his wallet containing cash and other valuables. When he noticed the thief, the latter escaped on his motorcycle.

Gaurav Ralhan of Basant Nagar has alleged that on Tuesday morning when his mother had gone to the market to buy milk, the suspect entered his house and stole two mobile phones. “I woke up to the sound of some unusual activity in the house. I tried to corner the thief, but he managed to escape,” says Gaurav.

Assistant Sub-inspector Swaran Singh said the thief was identified from the motorcycle number on which he had come to commit thefts. Raids were on to nab him, he added.
