Man shot dead over monetary dispute

An accused, who had allegedly injured four persons with a revolver in Jalajan village earlier, struck again in Majra village, near Khanna, killing a person with his gun. The deceased was identified as Gurcharan Singh, a resident of Majra village.

Acting on a tip off, the police swiftly arrested the alleged accused from near the crime site as per the SSP, Khanna, NS Mahal. The accused was identified as Daljeet Singh Jeeta.

As per information Jeeta had some monetary dispute with Gurcharan as both of them kept pigeons, which won awards during competitions. During the last few months their pigeons had won many prizes. Both had a dispute over Rs 50,000. In a fit of anger Jeeta came to Majra village and attacked Gurcharan, who was returning from his fields. When he opened fire, a bullet hit the victim on his head killing him on the spot.

The Chowki Issru in charge, ASI Balvir Singh, caught hold of Jeeta while he was threatening others with the revolver. The deceased has left behind two sons, daughter and his wife.

Jeeta had injured four persons of a family in Jalajan village on January 7 and was absconding since then.

The Khanna SSP said a case under Section 302, IPC, was registered against Jeeta. The accused used a .32 bore revolver in crime, he added.
