Man murdered at home

A 44-year-old railway employee was hacked to death at his house in Ajit Nagar, Haibowal.

His body was found in his room with throat slit. The deceased has been identified as Kuldeep. He has left behind his wife Geeta and daughter Suganda (17). He was a helper in the electrical department of the Indian Railways. So far, the police have registered a case against unidentified persons under Section 302 of the IPC.

The incident came to light when the deceased’s wife and daughter, who slept on the first floor, came downstairs in the morning and saw the man lying in a pool of blood with throat slit. Even the knife used in the crime was reportedly lying near the body.

The police have checked several CCTV cameras of the locality, but no vital clue about the assailants was found. Sources said the police have been suspecting the role of some known person behind the murder. Even the role of the deceased’s wife is also being suspected, but the police officials were yet to clear any stance.

Haibowal SHO Paramdeep said the deceased’s brother had named four persons as he suspects that they could be behind the murder, adding that the police were verifying his claims.

ACP West, Gurpreet Singh, said the police were checking the CCTV cameras and probe was being conducted in a scientific manner. He said the culprits would be behind the bars soon. When asked if the role of deceased’s wife was being suspected behind the murder, the ACP said it was too early to comment on the involvement of family members behind the murder, but the police were questioning them and their role was yet to be confirmed.
