Ludhiana, August 4

A 45-year-old man was hacked to death in Kothe Sher Jang village at Jagraon last night. His wife suffered injuries and was hospitalised. The deceased has been identified as Jasbir Singh (45). He worked at ITI-Moga.

On Saturday night, Jasbir, along with his wife Daljit and son Arman (8), slept in their room. At midnight, as claimed by the deceased’s wife, four armed men entered their house. They first hit her in the head and then hacked her husband to death.

The assailants fled the house after killing her husband, said the woman, adding that it seemed the assailants had come to kill her husband only as they did not steal anything from the house.

After the assailants had left the house, she informed her neighbours who then called up the police.

Senior police officials reached the spot and started investigation.

The police said the body had 25 sharp injury marks. Jagraon SHO Nidhan Singh said a case of murder against unknown persons had been registered and the police were working on various theories to crack the case.
