Ludhiana: A 39-year-old man went missing under mysterious circumstances. Complainant Kajal told the police that on June 19, her husband Lashman Das, a resident of Guru Nanakpura, who was addicted to liquor, left home without informing anyone. She said she suspects that her husband could have been kept under illegal confinement by some persons. The police have launched a manhunt.

11 cases of illicit liquor recovered

The Meharban police have recovered 11 cases of illicit liquor from a car. Investigating Officer Gurinder Singh said a vehicle stationed on Rahon Road was loaded with illicit liquor. A raid was conducted by the police party and the liquor was recovered. Further probe was on to inquire about the owner of the car.

Man booked under Mining Act

The Meharban police have booked a man, identified as Badal of Jamalpur Leli, on the charge of illegal mining. The police said acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted at a village, from where a tractor-trailer was found loaded with illegally mined sand. The driver, however, managed to flee. A case under the Mining Act was registered. — TNS
